Art: "You don't have to call me Sir, Professor" (Book 6 Illustration)

Continued from here (stages 1 through 3).

Stage 4: Began drawing the border. Got rid of some highlights on the wall between Snape and Harry because it took focus off the figures.

Stage 5: Began drawing the border on the left. Finished the border. Added some spider webs and highlights.

Closeup of Harry, Ron, and Hermione

My cluttered work area.

Stage 7. Made some changes at [info]ook's suggestion. Redrew the lighting on the book and on Ron's shoulders. It's finished.

Closeup of Harry and Snape

I'll put it for sale (probably ebay) if anyone wants it. Now that I'm done with it, I have no intention of keeping it. :)

Absolutely beautifully rendered Acid!! Wow.....did you use color pencils for that or was it paint? I'm squinting....>_< Great job all in all. I especially love the perspective from the book in the front to Snape's sexy posture. :9

Hahaha! Your icon! One of my favorite parts of the GoF movie. :D

And, yeah, I love Snape's posture and his hair! :)

Hi, Gwyll. It was both + some other things. Acrylics + color pencils + oil pastels + ink & whiteout. I might be forgetting two or three other things, but that's mostly it. Thank you!

sexy posture.

Sexy??? Eeeep! And here I tried my best to give him a 'greasy, ugly, hateful git' canon look. What happened? ;)

Oh...even if he has a 'greasy, ugly, hateful git' canon look, he's still sexy to me. Lol!

Gods....put him sitting on a toilet or wearing a nasty shirt, I'd drool. XDDD

Looks really nice! You draw wonderful Snapes and Harrys. :)

I'd love to see a better scan of the painting, but I guess the pastel makes it too difficult to scan on a flatbed scanner?

*grin* A lot of practice makes a difference I suppose. :)

Scan? Eep. I went with a digital photo 'cause the size of this thing (22x28 makes it a bit difficult to scan -- and I'm too lazy to scan it in 6 to 8 pieces and then put it all together in Photoshop). Hmm, *glances at the scanner gathering dust in the corner* I might try it anyway later. There was always something messing up the lighting when I took a picture of it.

I once scanned a 30" x 30" painting on an 11x17 scanner. Took nine scans, I remember, but I was able to stitch them all together. Scan your artwork at 100% using at least 340 dpi.

If you're going to sell the piece, you should definitely make a better scan of it (partly for you to keep, but also to help promote the sale of the piece). :)

Absolutely lovely, m'darling, as always.

I'm not certain that I'm going to have enough money to eat (yay for loans from parents... *groans in slight despair*) for the next two months, let alone buy that gorgeous work of art. *sighs in longing*

Ah well. At some point I'm going to be rich and powerful and I shall commission a piece from you.

i love this, especially the candlelight, it looks like cobwebs around it.

thats good that you can get rid of your artwork easily like that, i seem to not be able to dettach myslef from my artwork, were you like that in the beginning?

Thank you. :)

Well, it depends. There are some pieces I'd never part with. If Lessons Learned series were drawn on paper, I'll definitely hold onto the original. This one is too large for me to frame and display effectively, so I'd rather have someone else do it. If I draw a piece knowing that I don't intend to keep it, it's much easier to let go of it afterwards.

Definitely, see id rather do commissions because then i know i wouldnt want it. but if i just do some random art or art for class, its like i want to be a selfish ass and keep everything for myself.

It's a gorgeous piece of art. I love the richness of colours and the shading, especially the drape of the robes and around Snape's eyes. Ooh, the tension! (They *so* want each other.) Ehem. Nice work, [info]ac1d6urn!

Excellent work! I love the composition and the atmosphere the pic conveys. As well as the tension diplayed by Snape/Potter. I love the background! It's like my imagined Hogwarts

Thank you, Ami. :) The background was fun to draw -- all the bricks and the arches of the windows. It helped a lot that I drew it on the dark sheet, otherwise it would've been a pain to colour.

Yep, going. But can't really submit it 'cause the original was mailed to Australia. :) It's ok, I'm sure I'll come up with other things for Lumos.
